The partnership with Kymeta has bridged the gap between off site control and acquisition of data and connectivity on remote sites. Not only does this technology improve fixed communication but the mTennau7 Antenna Subsystem Module (ASM) can be mounted directly to the roof of a mobile vehicle giving full uninterrupted data connectivity to the vehicle and operator.
ELB’s plan for the future is to integrate Kymeta technology into our Intelligent Solutions portfolio to enhance the integral role of data and communication wherever in the world we may be. For example, when a mine is built, there is often no infrastructure to support data and communication systems. Kymeta brings connectivity to all our remote operations whilst utilising the best satellites for data transfer.
Instead of operating from a ground-based communication system, the KyWay terminal looks to the skies for its data transfers. The advantage of Kymeta technology can swiftly be realised as it is enclosed within a small flat panel, measuring just 45 cm, which can be placed directly onto moving vehicles, containers or existing infrastructure with little effort.
ELB staff will be trained in the service and set up of Kymeta satellite terminals at their head office in Redmond, Washington. This will be the first step in achieving a local support base for future ELB-Kymeta solutions.
